Eastern Alps, October 28th, 2018. About 5pm.
In as quickly as 5 hours, in an unpredictable windy afternoon, we have lost 14 millions trees or 8 million cubic metres of wood.
Difficult to imagine. Nothing has never been as strong as the Vaia Storm within living memory. In Italy, at least. But in many other regions of Europe, forests have experienced even stronger apocalyptic storms, so far. Those forests in those other regions, are our forests too. All trees of this living planet are our trees. It is in their memory that we have worked on the last 8 months. It is on our collective memory that we want to stick such an event.
